Hasn’t this week gone quick!?
The second one of these ‘memes’ on the blog, so going strong, right? As previously mentioned, I took the idea of doing these from Alli the book Giraffe and I’m looking forward to sharing this weeks update.
What are you reading?
Sharpe’s Rifles – Bernard Cornwell
It feels great getting back into the Sharpe series and exactly what I needed. An easy-to-read, action book with an anti-hero main character that you just have to root for! Unlike the other Sharpe books I’ve read, this is one of the earlier written books (not the first) and one of the stories that’s better known in the TV series – first episode, I believe – so it’s also nice to be in familiar territory (Even if it has been a while since I watched any of it.)
What did you read last?
Amok – Sebastian Fitzek
An absolute belter of a read! It’s one of those books that I could easily see being turned into a thriller. It’s a story of crime, hostages and emotional trauma with a nice healthy layering of conspiracy theory and twists that I didn’t see coming. I highly recommend this book it you like something a bit different to your standard crime-thriller. I’ll be writing a full review soon, so, be on the look out for that in the next day or so. Regardless, if you get the chance to pick this up, I urge you to do so!
What will you read next?
Dune – Frank Herbert
I was brought a copy of Dune recently as there’s been a bit of renewed hype surrounding the book as of late; the new movie for starters, but also the weekly RPG have picked up Dune: Adventures in the Imperium. I feel like I am severely lacking in knowledge of the book/setting and have had it recommended to me by several people. It’s a bit of a monster of a book though, and I’m currently feeling the weight of my reading list so I might change my mind before next week!
